Dear Friends and Neighbors:

Glen Ridge residents need your help, and contributing to the Glen Ridge Community Fund is a caring way to do this. Appearances of prosperity can be deceiving: plenty of local people are quietly suffering. The GRCF has been helping out since 1953.

The GRCF’s mission is to raise funds to assist GR residents seeking help from accredited local social service organizations. We do an annual fundraising campaign, and you’ll find our volunteers behind the registration and water tables at the beloved annual Fitzgerald’s 1928 Lager Run, whose profits benefit the GRCF.

The COVID-19 pandemic imposed novel challenges during a time when the GRCF’s donations were needed more than ever.  Our town embraced a Virtual Fitzgerald’s 1928 Lager Run and contributed generously through other virtual events. Early on, our donors provided meals to local front-line hospital workers, and we’ve made sure that residents facing food insecurity could receive Shop Rite cards, so that they could buy what they need with privacy and dignity.

But the vital organizations that the GRCF supports continue to need aid to fund their regular programs, and 2020 restrictions on our direct fund-raising ability means that the GRCF has a lot less money than usual to help them. These agencies recently have included the Human Needs Food Pantry, Neighbor to Neighbor (direct financial and other assistance), COPE (mental health and addictions), Chrill Care (meals for the homebound), the local YMCA, and our own GR Volunteer Ambulance Squad, among others.

Please help us help our Glen Ridge neighbors.  Donations in any amount to the GRCF, a tax-exempt 501(c) (3) organization, are fully tax-deductible and employer-matchable.  Please send your check to: Glen Ridge Community Fund, PO Box 27, Glen Ridge NJ 07028.
